“Mon Précieux”

Do we need to question ourselves?

This song was written and sang in 2016 by Said M’Roumbada, better known as Soprano.

The sixth single from the album "L'Everest", "Mon précieux" refer to the relationship we have with our mobile phones. A track mixing humour and urban pop.

An engaged title

Soprano doesn’t hesitate to convey strong messages through his songs.

Here, with "Mon précieux", the singer criticizes our growing addiction to mobile phones through his daily misadventures.

He points out the dangers that accompany our abusive use of mobile phones, but also the changes they have brought about without us even realizing it. And this is not just limited to the new generation. Everyone is affected.

Je ne sais plus vivre sans toi à mes côtés ; Ton regard pixelisé m'a envoûté

I don't know how to live without you by my side; Your pixelated gaze has enchanted me.

A touch of humour

The rapper denounces here the intensive use of smartphones but of course in his own way. With humour, he describes bad habits that have now become a matter of course for many people. The song is written to show the fusional relationship that the singer has with the smartphone. As if he were talking about a woman, he sings:

Ta douce mélodie me réveille chaque matin […] Puis, je te caresse le visage pour voir si tout va bien

Your sweet melody wakes me up every morning [...] Then I stroke your face to see if everything is okay.

In the clip, the phone takes on a human dimension and accompanies Soprano in his daily life. In every moment of his day:

Tellement inséparable qu'on part ensemble au petit coin

So inseparable that we go to the little corner together.
Soprano with his phone

And to underline the irony of the lyrics, there is the voice assistant representing the artist's phone that also laughing at us:

Vous n'avez pas vu vos amis depuis deux mois ; Votre vie est digitale ; LOL

You haven't seen your friends for two months; Your life is digital; LOL.

So, are you as attached to your phone as Soprano?
